The Sharknose is starting to appeal to me. AWD, 290HP, a lot of them are like $7-10K now. What do you think, oppo?

I was under the impression most of them are beat to shit by now. That being said i like their looks.

I found one for $6,500... With a shot SH-AWD system. You could guess the title status for this car as well.

Damn. I read Sharknose, I was hoping for one of these:

The Acura? More reliable. If you can find one in good shape mechanically, I’d say go for it!

Hmmm - they didn’t sell many, so ... parts? Also, how reliable is the AWD system? OTOH, when I lived in Chinatown in 2004, one of these often parked on Henry Street near my building. I would look at it and wonder why they didn’t sell more of them. And my law school tax prof had one and loved it.

It’s a really, really, really nice Accord. That being said, it will probably be trouble-free as it is basically an Accord, although I believe Accords of that vintage had some rather serious transmission issues. Don’t know if the same transmission was used in the RL.

I much prefer the Japanese e38 body lines:

They got a transmission update two to three years into its life. My bad, just checked it, it’s 2011 when they got from a 5-speed to a 6-speed Automatic. And it has that Honda run flat system that I’ve read is so awful, people who have it on Odysseys modify to remove it.

I thought Sharknose was the one after this.

EDIT: Whoops, I'm thinking of the TL.

I think they’re solid, though based on things said below and some basic research, I’d only get an 11 or 12. That five-speed auto failed hard in the older TL, and is one of the two reasons the depreciation is high...the other one being initial price point and lack of interest. Still, it’s probably one of the best sneaky Japanese barges, the other one being a first gen M45.

About a year ago, I drove one - an 07 I think. This is what I thought of it.

Acura Tech here, I say skip it. Parts are expensive for these as the vast majority are from Japan only. It has lots of electrical gremlins too. Expensive electrical gremlins. Also, watch out for the door handles. This car had one of the first generation keyless entry systems. The sensors are built into the door handles. The handles short out constantly. They’re expensive, can literally burn you, and will melt and possibly take out other electronics when they go. I had one that came into the shop a few months back that had a shorted driver’s handle. It would pop a 15A fuse under the dash which would kill all the power to the interior of the car. If you can bear the cost, they’re great cars. Powerful, smooth, comfortable, and surprisingly fun to drive.

When do the handles usually short out? My mom's RL has 90k miles and is still going strong.

My mom has one and its only needed a timing belt and motor mounts(dealers's fault) outside of regular maintenance.
